Markha River

The Markha River  Valley trek is a river in LadakhIndia. It is a feeder of the Zanskar River and initiates at the brace of the Langtang Chu and Nimaling Chu. Habitat along the river valley comprise Skiu (Skyu), Markha & Umlung . The Markha River flow within the Hemis National Park.

This Valley is one of the very famous trekking paths in Ladakh reachable from Ganda La pass close to Spituk , it is generally the starting end of the trek, and closing ends are Gongmaru La pass near Hemis. Skyu ,Rumbak, Shingo, Sara etc  are some habitats in the route of Markha .

Introduction to Markha Valley

On the way to the Markha Valley  one will encounter with Hemis National Park and Gandala La and Kongmaru La which showcases the encouraging views one gets . Also in Markha Valley one will experience the waist-deep river intersection which helps us to cross the Markha River to stretch out the series to Buddhist habitats and rock infrastructure. Some Facts about Markha Valley Trek

The Altitude of Markha valley  is 17100 ft high with a distance of 75 kms . The temperature during the trek can range around 15°C – 25°C at the day time and 0°C – 20°C during the night time. To complete it comfortably one should at-least keep 8-9 days in the pocket .The best time to attempt Markha Valley Trek is the middle of May to September.

The trek to Markha valley  is of uncomplicated to average grade with 1-2 sheer divisions and is usually feasible for adults below 60. However it is not a typical trek that is of same difficulty while going down. One will get a broader insight into Ladakhi Himalayas. Day 1 Arrival at Leh, Altitude:- 3500 m/11,500 ft

You will reach at Leh and shall be curious about your Markha valley Trek and must be.

Day 2 Adopt and settle with the climatic condition of Leh

Have indulge in breakfast and get yourself adjusted with this beautiful terrian.
Enjoy untangling the very famous monasteries around Leh like Shey and Thiksey.
Night to be spend in the hotel

Day 3 -Leh - Zingchen (3400m) - Yurutse (4150m) (Trek/4hrs)

Quench in an early breakfast and drive through Spikut habitat to get into Zingchen region.
Your kiking experience will begin from here
Enjoy the trek via Rumbak Village to eventually reach Yurutse and move nearer stream crossings.

Day 4 -Yurutse (4150m) - Ganda La (4800m) - Skiu (3400m) (Trek 7/8hrs)

Today it will be a sharp climb and powerful winds in the direction of latter half.
Experience beauty of valleys on both sides, the Zanskar range, and some far peaks of the Himalayan range.

Day 5 Skiu (3400m) - Markha (3800m (Trek 6/7hrs)

Reach the hamlet that is a treasured in the halfway of this chilled and dry desert.
The area is netting with green fields, willow trees, and a deserted palace.
Camp alongside a rippling river.

Day 6 Hangkar to Nimaling (15,419 ft); 14 km, 8 hours

Enjoy in the memorising scene of Kangyatze Peak (6400m) when rambling in the direction of Hankar.

Day 7 Thochuntse (4150m) - Nimaling (4700 m) (Trek/ 4hrs)

The place is a pleasing with a valley of unchecked feeding floors of Kangyatze Peak.
You should be aware that there will be a regular wind gusting in the landscape creating the environment quite uncomfortable.

Day 8 Nimaling (4700m) - Kongmaru La (5150m) - Sumdo (3800m) - Leh 3500m (Trek 7hrs) (Drive 2hrs)

Have your breakfast and take on a sheer climb to get to the top of the steepest pass on the trail - Kongmaru La.
Enjoy the awesome scenes of Nun Kun in the West and Saser Kangri in the North.
Make moments here before ascending down to Sukarmo, where the trek is a flat walk around the river .

Day 9 Departure from Leh

Yes it is the time to end the trek :)

If cancellations are made 30 days before the start date of the trip, 25% of total tour cost will be charged as cancellation fees.

If cancellations are made 15-30 days before the start date of the trip, 50% of total tour cost will be charged as cancellation fees.

If cancellations are made within 0-15 days before the start date of the trip, 100% of total tour cost will be charged as cancellation fees.

In case of unforeseen weather conditions or government restrictions, certain trips or activities may get cancelled. In such cases operator will try their best to provide an alternate feasible. However a cash refund will not be applicable for the same.
