As this trek will be officially done in winters so most probably you will have to fly to reach to Leh.
Leh is submerged in white snow and this time you wont even be able to see the roads as they will be under a thick sheet of ice. Due to this, the city will only be partially open.
You can start the morning by witnessing the sunrise from the Shanti Stupa , from where you can get a panoramic view of the entire town of Leh and its surroundings. You can also see the peak of Stok Kangri almost beckoning you to climb it.
Its 11,400 to 10,390 ft high, you will be climbing to Shanti Stupa and Witness the Sunrise from there then Trek to Tilat Sumdo which is of one-two hours.
You can start the morning by witnessing the sunrise from the Shanti Stupa , from where you can get a panoramic view of the entire town of Leh and its surroundings. You can also see the peak of Stok Kangri almost beckoning you to climb it.
But today’s agenda includes a very picturesque and thrilling long-drive to Chilling. The roller-coaster ride takes you along the Indus to the village of Nimu, where the Zanskar converges into Indus. After stopping at this confluence point to take in the view, the drive continues and the road begins descending right into the river valley. There are quite a few heart-stopping moments as the vehicle negotiates the steep hairpin bends over snow covered road. The road goes past Chilling to Tilad Do. Among these mammoth mountains, the feeling of insignificance of one’s being does not escape anyone.
To reach the camp-site, you have to cross the frozen Zanskar river and this is when you take your first steps on the Chadar. It takes a while to get a hang of walking on the ice sheet. As the evening comes, the team pitches tents on the banks of the Zanskar, and hands out thick warm sleeping bags. To get some exercise and keep warm, you can climb up the nearby mountains and get a good look at the frozen river. As the sun sets, it drags the temperature down with it, and the sleeping bags in the tents look quite inviting.
Start with a few warm up activities, breakfast and a guidance by the trainer on trekking on the difficult path
The temperature at Chadar is quite unpredictable,Some times it can be cold with hard surface of slippery ice or it can be soft fresh snow.
A 12 km trek will lead you to Gyalpo through Shingra Koma. Surrounded by towering mountain peaks, enjoy an overnight stay in your tents at a bend in the river.
Have breakfast & start 14 km trek with location of frozen waterfalls and sky-reaching mountain walls which blocks most of the sunlight.
A 5 hour trek after breakfast via the pretty ridges, berrylike trees engulfed with snow and the valley of Chadar will take you to the terrians biggest waterfall, Nyerak waterfall.
After a revitalising halt at the Nyerak waterfall, head to your destination, Nyerak village, where you will camp that night just aside the frozen river, in tents.
This day you will be returning to Tibb Cave and despite the fact the trek is the same, there will be a slight change in weather situation.
Stay in tents inside the cave, just like last time.
The second last day of yours where you will be experiencing spellbind scenes of frozen waterfalls.
The destination for today is Gyalpo with an overnight stay in tents.
The last day of your Chadar Frozen River, you should try to live this day to the fulest as the next day you will be back
At Tilat Do, a vehicle waiting for you will take you back to Leh.
Its a time to say good bye to your fellow members , the end of the trek :)
