Our Rovaniemi, Kiruna and Tromso tour

My name is Wong, and I am a Singaporean national working in Goldman sachs. I recently got married, and my wife, Koh, is a primary school teacher. We took our first trip together, which was planned by Koh. We got married in October 2023 and traveled to Finland in January 2024. The trip was perfectly planned by her, and I still appreciate her efforts. Actually, this article should have been written by Koh, as she was the one who planned the trip. However, she wanted me to write it so she could receive some public appreciation. : )

I also want to thank Lestacworld for giving us the opportunity to write about our tour on their platform. It is an honor to be asked to share our experience.

Initially, we only had Finland in mind. Koh began searching for itineraries online and quickly gained an understanding of the region’s geography. She focused on non-standard itineraries. During her search, Koh came across an itinerary that included both Finnish and Swedish Lapland. This caught her attention because, until then, we had only found standard itineraries, and this one was different.

Koh decided to reach out to the website’s support via WhatsApp, marking the beginning of our tour planning. She connected with Paivi and asked for recommendations. Paivi suggested that we include Tromsø as well. We liked this idea because it meant we would be covering Finland, Sweden, and Norway—all three countries.

Koh and i had a detailed discussion about what activities we want to do, where we want to stay and what should be the dates. Koh was in touch with Paivi on email because they prefer email discussions than Whatsapp. We drafted an email as per our requirements and Paivii replied with an amazing itinerary. Here is the itinerary we finalised with the help of Paivii and finlandtour.fi:

• Day 1: We arrive at Helsinki and do a small city tour on our own and then rest
• Day 2: We checkout from Helsinki hotel and fly to Rovaniemi where we stay at a igloo room and do snow mobile safari of 2 hours
• Day 3: Santa Claus village tour which includes Meeting Santa, Snow man world entry tickets, 500 meters husky ride and Lunch
• Day 4: we checkout from igloo stay and get transferred to Rovaniemi city. We wanted to enjoy the city on own and in evening we opted for northern lights tour
• Day 5: We checkout from Rovaniemi city hotel and get transferred to Kiruna Ice Hotel which takes around 5 hours car ride.
• Day 6: we get entry to Ice premises of hotel and we enjoy on our own
• Day 7: we checkout from Ice Hotel and get transferred to Kiruna city hotel where we enjoy 2 hours city tour of Kiruna
• Day 8: We checkout from Kiruna city and get transferred to Tromso by car . After arriving we will checkin and do northern lights tour
• Day 9: We do Tromso whale watching cruise and explore on own
• Day10: we will checkout from Hotel and boom it will be an end of the tour

• 1 night in City hotel in Rovaniemi city
• 2 nights warm rooms of Ice hotel Kiruna
• 1 night in Scandic Kiruna
• 2 nights in Scandic Grand Tromso
