Permits: As of my last update, Meghalaya did not require special permits for Indian tourists. However, permits were required for foreign tourists to visit certain areas, especially those close to the international borders. It's advisable to check the latest requirements, especially if you are a foreign national.
Respect Local Customs: Meghalaya is home to diverse indigenous communities, each with its own customs and traditions. It's important to respect the local culture, customs, and traditions of the Khasi, Garo, and other indigenous communities.
Environmental Conservation: Meghalaya is known for its scenic beauty, waterfalls, and lush forests. Tourists are expected to follow responsible tourism practices, such as not littering, avoiding plastic usage, and respecting the natural environment. Many ecologically sensitive areas might have specific guidelines to protect the local flora and fauna.
Restricted Areas: Some areas, especially those inhabited by indigenous communities, might have restricted access for tourists. It's important to respect these restrictions and not venture into areas where tourists are not permitted.
